lycanthropic human
Yesterday unfiled the left-over postcards Will Sherwin made and self-addressed for me, to get me to write him while he was up in Tasajara for his last long stay. Some had a few lines I don't remember writing, one that struck me: A PERSON THINKS THEY ARE GOOD. MAYBE THEY WILL HAVE A DREAM WHERE THEIR ACTIONS, PERFORMED ON THE CLOSE SIDE OF THE LINE DIVIDING GOOD AND BAD, ARE MOCKINGLY ANALOGIZED BACK TO THEM BY ACTIONS THEY WOULD PLACE AS EVIL. (5/23/04) on most of the postcards Will had cut out things from magazines and pasted them on the picture side, or done drawings etc. This one has a pale deep sea creature with a big gaping toothy mouth, an unhinged jaw. I wonder if he did this on purpose in relation to his dreams of evil snakes. and once an arctic snake, white fur aquatic killer. and did I choose to write that particular thing on that particular card? I don't think I had so fine control in those days
Then last night, visited Lyal's housewarming party. and practically first thing as I got there he asks me about banshee kitty and if I think leaving her locked in her room for the party was a good idea, instead of having her freaked out by all the new people. I said yeah
later I went in to visit her and found a mess of stoners in a cloud of smoke. banshee sitting in a basket in the closet. played with her a bit and tried to connect with her deep calm (all speeds).. concerned about her situation, not wanting her consciousness altered against her will and ability to refuse or control. I asked celebrants and finally Lyal. everyone had a different take on it, but all unwilling or unable to enter into the depth of true possibility
I HAD TO LEAVE
LYAL MAYBE YOU WILL HAVE A DREAM
I love you
I muttered 'lycanthropic human' on the way to the car, and thought yes a monster is better to be or to emulate. lights out

instead of "in the heat of the moment"
In the Solvent of the Moment or could say Solute of the Moment
have heard the ancient greeks conceived events in time as approaching from behind and passing us
went out in the middle of my shower last night to pry up a big pumice from the front yard, brought it in and suddenly solved the little thing I've been wondering how not to scratch the bathtub. I had imagined maybe a layer of dirt, but a best first solution: two folded up towels under the rock.

I'm late! but I must say,
anyone who hasn't tried filling a small emptied toothpaste tube from a big full one should try it.
My small one is a bit plasticy (travel size aquafresh) and my big one metalllic (tom's), I think, extending the inherent difference in feeling between empty and full tubes, but maybe that because they're what I trained on. it's a bit like blowing gum bubbles in a way

How Deep Is Our Stack1?
two weeks ago passed over an email question that I didn't have anything for, but spontaneously yesterday or the day before while driving thoughts and second thought oh, suitable reply. left it again, until this morning
part awake, reasoning, but on premises continued from this morning's dream, different endings, film editor- a joke was putting a lavender bath robe on one of the news anchors. long solution I was proud of finding, excited by the possibilities of, was to tape on to the bottom third or fourth or so with clear packing tape a particular type of clean black debris- old headphones, for example, but slightly less literal (too many highlights, reflections) constant density of these shapes, as if scrolling, along the bottom, throughout the end section at least. one solution for all- I'm calling a 'long solution' (maybe like 'all along').
[feels a little like interests in intensity change automation (for example, cassette tape dropouts, lengthening fade outs, momentary lights dimming when the refrigerator turns on). Was playing with a Buchla 291e last night for the first time in a year or so. I think that might have been where I was driving to, to borrow a power supply]
Was reasoning like that for some time. finally other set of premises appearing over several long-thought?-moments, but I rolled on my side and open up my computer to to them. Remember being quite old, ?17,18 when I first saw clearly other peoples' morning discomforts, friend Max Seeger having to put his 'brain back together' almost every morning. a culture of that when living with his family I hadn't seen. morning newspaper etc.. I'd never thought of that!
reading morning's newsletters emails, remembered to send off the new reply, pleasure of searching through the 2 weeks backlog knowing what I was looking for

comics music q2
around the age of 13 I bought a comic book. B&W, glossy color cover, probably self-published. bikini/pinup style cover. flat empty artwork with occasional grey ?watercolor washes. often backgroundless panels, US, weird combination of manga and architectural rendering. detailed focus on a few objects, guns, for example drawn carefully enough for the model to be identified, if I do not exaggerate my recollection. and the rest expanses of white-- in the 'plot' too. can't find a title now, the first place I ever heard the pixies.
over the carefully delineated yacht's sound system came 'drive my car into the ocean' 'I sail away on waves of mutilation'. I somehow guessed the tune correctly! well the phrase ends, at least. I don't think I got the backbeat harmony rise. I sang it to myself several times, and savored it!
occasionally I'd remember that tune I'd supposed with the words later, and if in public, once, at a party I remember clearly, in a kitchen (6, 7 years later!), I would still sing what I'd thought was the tune-- a little scared, knowing I'd made it up, but also strangely confident in my surmise. intentionally giving some uncertainty-harmonic-character to the pitches. this has become part of my voice quality. 'true voice'. still wonder what Chris Cohen heard in my voice that made him imagine a part for me in his 'invisible string'.
my mysterious conception of the tune wasn't controverted until I finally heard a recording, basically unbidden, only 3 years ago. turned loose on Discka Bob's stash for a week, I copied a few pixies shows along with a mass of other material. no metadata beyond show place and time noted on the CDs themselves. Wading through that, I've only listened to it fully once, and otherwise, a handful of times. it's a bit too precious to look at directly the tenebr

Do you have a word in German for the picture that's sometimes at the bottom of kids' bowl/plates/cups that's sort of a reward for them if they eat all their food? or a word for bowls, etc that have that reward-picture?

What do you call pieces of wood cut expressly to fit in the slides of sliding windows and doors keeping them from opening? Or maybe allowing them to open just a certain amount and no more, or even better, pairs of sticks, one for complete closure, and one for cat-width opening.

Elka 44 under a bridge of Van Gulik, some earth energies stuff, Gulag Archipelago, Dennis Wheatley. Effectron II under, among others, Atlantean Secrets, AD&D manuals (oldest versions barely fit, later designs (Deities & Demigods, MMII) won't and had to be reshelved), video-art books, Lem. Boss half-rack effects (the sampler and delay) stacked under Viking Portable Library editions of Nietzsche and Jung. C pocket reference, Dutton edition of Blake, Wittgenstein, Dion Fortune, Lisa Goldstein.
I want badly to put a Lexicon Vortex in, but it's so shallow. And a patch bay

a while ago read in Tinbergen and Kuenen 1938 "In addition, the possible formation of positive associations was avoided by continuous alteration of the stimuli. When a negative result was obtained, we always presented, as controls, stimuli known to be very effective. As we were concerned only with qualitative analysis, we did not feel it necessary to standardize the control stimulus too precisely." and remembered Abramović's Rhythm 10.

In Legge's introduction to his translation of the I Ching he tries to make the Lo look like nothing but the 3x3 magic square. But obviously, it isn't! The numbers are differentiated into two groups, and in such a way as to suggest that they should retain that difference even when collected into sets of 3 (as the consistent sums of 15 suggest).
As shown, there's no need to stop at the given division into odd and even numbers either, others give us interesting distributions, too. Nor to select just one division, after all, Legge's flat representation contains all possible divisions superimposed.
Going from essences to recipies, tuning the distribution of rules to align ourselves with the raw material, like a generalized video vector scope that doesn't know yet what PAL or NTSC is, as it's tuned in it's demodulation and subsequent recombination, it's learning a national language. Or perhaps more like astrology, as it provides a variable basic machinery by which to demodulate the single number 'time' into essences which then we recombine, hoping to learn the national language enough to say hello, or goodbye.
looking now at balancing divisions of magic squares of eighth order. [have also recently discovered a way to treat nonweighted codes (Gray code, for example) as 'weighted' by multiplying coefficients]

Do you air-reed squeal outs on bottles like I do?
Francis Holland first showed me this years ago, then as now being I think more familiar with bottles than I. Perhaps from his wet hand descriptions I maintain an image with my squeals of a licked Egyptian eye (he'd told me it's the way a Ney sings, and somehow, I'd seen, or had pantomimed to me a harelipped ?hare-palate, wet sound Egyptian, with bore entirely in his mouth) in geometrical reduction. (truly geometric; that is, platonic, down to the shine)
not yet done enough to form conclusions, but yes to see it may be possible. /directions on the endless bed.
Memory of sitting forward squeal a beer bottle after a firepit meal in Don Buchla's yard, Don mesmerized by fire and sound as I and afterwards telling me hm yeah the four pitches that I had not numbered at all. remember the sliding they had with head tilt, beer still left in the bottle, and more recently walking, and the ?Orangina small orbiting registers

Hi Fran just woke up and in the haze that followed out of the remains of my dreams I found myself thinking about how powers of 2 relate to multiples of 3, alternately being one greater or lesser. the multiples of three were 1,3,5,11,21,43,85,171.. and then I started thinking about you. Hi!>

Hi!>

Remembered Jeremy Taylor's Basic Hints For Dream Work recommends a "return to the same physical position you were in when you first awoke" when telling friend this morning we should have an unfinite bed and each sleep time not restart from slated parallel positions, but carry on from where we left off. Maybe then we'd get some place

lists I'd like #7
At least we can still search the GoogleAnswers archive, which is all I ever did anyways, being more basically in need of questions than answers. One special request I remember, but have now misplaced, was for the name of the standard work on Chinese history. This called out a pretty snake-full of ideas on standard works generally, which I can't decide slithered only through my private imaginings or in public view.
I'd like a list of standard works.

Stockhausen's Beethoven-hold (SSJaeger's FFT-based spectral hold; Eltro Information Rate Changer; rotary playback head, still tape; Don't answer first, demand first: European (as oppposed to American) tape music))
Pólya György's How To Solve It
Nice to see the difference between what you can ask a person from time to time
we are all moving together (an unreality of other times; piled Type-C prints 4x6 (aspect ratios etc))

brought up to full consciousness (not that that's that important, but it is my business here) just now, after the shower ends, and the column of water is released through the faucet I like to have the side of leg in proximity to receive the gush, since my teens. If recently connected it to the Delany's passage in The Mad Man in the Mineshaft wherein the stranger approaches and says something like "How does it feel to be in a place where anyone might just walk up and start pissing down yo leg?" and find myself looking for the direct wording when the moment approaches. And that it's a totally different interest of mine when the sound of the gush much delayed comes out of the bathroom to the bed where I'm lying having forgotten entirely about it.is it the Mineshaft? some name like this.

Delight in collecting materials to show a few friends Carrom, like my dad showed me. A new carrom-powder: 'anti-offset' from the world of printers [visits to David Lance Goines' place after the neighboring rock shop had closed; his kind present to me (that I think I later cut up in trying to understand it, now see it would have been worth hundreds of deserts today), his present reminding of the Davis garage sale Mucha print I had as a kid framed under dusty glass][it occurs to me just now, a note for future investigation: perhaps a wine collection of bottles only labeled with Goines' designs would give me a forgetting of what a bottle of wine without him looks like. a new motivation for collectors]

I want to see the cover of Embrace Of Thorns's ...For I See Death In Their Eyes... a bit more clearly. I think I saw a big scan on the NWN forums once. Is it Chris Moyen? He's all pen, but still a little part of it. Of the more photographic of the covers, who's doing them? I imagine a culture of it quite sophisticated in areas I'm examining myself right now.
And all these symmetric looking logos make me think of scottkim.com/inversions and the sorts of things he describes learning about letter shapes by working on the inversions so that he can look at a band name and say 'oh, that's a good one!' I wonder if that's happened for black metal logo drawers, and what special sorts of things they know. might do to ask Master's Hammer:

It's June 5th, and as per Rey's invitation published here first, I visited him at People's Park.
2 Factory- Gone
told him I loved his book, and he said the next one would be better still because he'd had to cover so much in the first book that he hadn't time to get into the character's thoughts.// ///
I felt as if I was the protagonist of one of his stories coming to the park open to intrigue. I wondered then if He'd read Delany.
3 Tiger Trap- Puzzlepieces
he was happy to be able to tell people that parts of the book occurred right there in people's park.
I remembered that it was at the flea market that I told him when some guy had stolen from him, and as a present of recognition, he let me take a minor threat CD home.

6 Basic Channel- Q1.2
He told me a little about the unseen and unsuspected (see upcoming post for discussion of the NWO)
7 Legendary Pink Dots- 1001 commandments
He showed me how to wrap white sage, and talked to customer-visitors about the different kinds of sage. He was bemused about what seemed to bring sales, and asked his booth-mate about his sage sales (none that I saw), who as I said replied coldly.
I wondered as I often had before about Rey's finances. He is Jimi Hendrix returned, purged of some of the disturbing drives we hear tell of. Intelligent into private space. (he might say it's public!) Seems he funds his exploration by opining that his finds are worth the communities' funding. Once he told me he'd sell my record at his booth, and when I politely (I thought) said "OK, but you might want to hear it first, I mean you might not like it", he said No, all artists should be supported, regardless of whether he or anyone else likes it.
8 GODFLESH- Tiny Tears

THERE IS NO OTHER VICTORY
Everyone will tell you you're wrong. As the captain, like we see Picard commanding Jake Kurland, there is only one victory.

for those who have seen but do not recall Picard commanding Kurland, recall now that during an episode-long probing review of his leadership ability and loyalty to, and vision of, the ideals of Starfleet, all were surprised by young Kurland's impulsive theft of a shuttle-craft to 'run away'. While the lead investigator blocks his view of the situation and continually harasses him with disparagements of his ability, Picard adresses himself to Kurland, who has lost control of the stolen shuttle and is heading for seemingly assured destruction. Picard, over the shouts of the inquisitor, commands Jake with only words through space to take the absolute wrong action in the opinion of every other sentient aware of the situation including Jake himself: to fly directly at the planet below.

PREVIEW OF NEW COMP

liner notes here

I should note here that the entire series of new comps is dedicated to Rey Freeman King, whose comps I used to buy at the Ashby flea market as a kid opened my imagination. The print versions of these come inscribed with sharpie by XYZ-plotter running font data abstracted from Rey's handwriting from those old cassettes and VHSes. He has a single stroke capital 'E' like a backwards '3'. right fashion sense

The hallmark is one used since 1935, the year the Normandy was launched.
I always eat with only the same one knife, no other utensils.
it's a Christofle Hotel butter knife
Christofle has outfitted the first French transatlantic ships and the great luxury ocean liners. They produced the 45k pieces needed for the running of the Normandy in art deco style. Grand Hotels of Joseph Cornell! Designed in part by Christian Fjerdingstad
I don't wash my knife, I only wipe it with the residue from each meal like blood from a sword, to a high polish.

that's crayola.com twistablessomething that used to catch my eye in comic strips when the pattern, plaid or checks or squares, on a character's clothes remained totally flat ignoring volume completely. I used to copy it, and try to do versions with and without, variations . I thought Andy Capp did it, but haven't found a good example.

Holodeck Artist
Friend Max Seeger wrote in to report that riding by Spaghetti Charlie's on his nice bike he found it looking very closed. Then we started to discuss bike geometries, fork rake especially- as it's an old favorite discussion topic of ours (we once built a while-riding-adjustable-geometry BMX bike together and one of the Cosovo-Albanians even helped drive some nails into a being-built-at- the-same time trike. I knew they weren't Armenians. The trike and BMX had a parts donor bike in common)I imagined again a haptic feedback system supporting me in five places (hands feet and crotch), responding like a bike, but adjustable as to specifics, taking adjustment from some small virtual controls at some of the five points (Twiddlers and combined brake/shift levers always remind me of one another) in various degrees of independence from the mechanics of staying afloat.
The imagination is like the holodeck with 'programs' we return to, perhaps refining them.
[what it means, the moment Lt Reginald Barclay deletes his holodeck programs. I watch him blended with Michael's Jugend]
I posit a program- all black ( nearly. that is, to explore varieties of indistinctness, darkness without form/ gravitation), describing the 5 supports.

I last saw a Rodger Dean monograph at Central Perk where I used to use http://www.crayola.com/coloring_application/index.cfm.
Thinking about owning a green station wagon reminded me of the coral reef like public seating installation I saw in his book Views as a kid.
