only in recently years have I started to think myself what Thomas Bonvalet told me in the past about the effects of the distance one is able to project personal plans or ideas into the future. He told me about when that horizon becomes very close, like not being able to see around a curve, and the bad feelings or mind-state that can accompany that. now I've said the same words in reporting about myself.
I've also been thinking about this projection on as many different scales as I can.

backwards music surface
a story I started to make up about playing Park Detail's Band is: everything is coming from missing a real piano; playing bass with the cz-1 is making up for not having as close physicality as the real piano. and half way through tour I made a keyboard split and put a backwards version of the sound to the right of it, and that felt the same too, that I could get closer to some missing thing with this extra sounds. But the thing I'm getting closer to only existed in my mind, so all the missing and re-approaching is only making it shown for the first time to others. one part of that is the surface of the piano sound, like what I'd imagine the shimmering surface of flows separating waters of differing salinity. lifting off and away from the body and mass of the sound, refocusing on the surface, and the surface of that surface, and so forth if manageable. so the backwards sounds ought to be things you might hear in a mass of the forwards sounds (anticipated on the first night by Peter Kolovos' backwards bits only under the loudest ringing sustained tremolo picked chords.)... the bass might be phantom patterns in the differing sweeps of each reattacked ringing chord.. of course they become things and then we try to search for the surface of these masses, hopefully. (and by the way, in the split I thought of Charlemagne Palestine with double pianos for playing unisonos, who might be in a similar place I'd like to ask about)

LEGO RUINS
I've written before here about a couple ways of getting excited about things being the same size or fitting together or being commensurate, but there's still to pin down a very significant difference in orientation between them. just now I've buried my recently unearthed lego ruins into a old toy zen rock garden of my mom's. glad they fit in one another, because this allows seeing both, makes them somehow transparent. this version of commensurability relates to the segments about 'how many things can you feel?' and 'sensory combination, Jerry Hunt':
-pressing outside ezra's case and feeling the ascii keyboard keys and the uneven legs and sprung upholstery of the stool below;
-feeling several carpets on top of one another lightly, through paper and sock;
-sounds of cloth-metal, establishment of characters in combination in working on Jerry Hunt's John Dee (how many things can you hear?)
the ruins are of a house I don't remember finishing as a kid, now reduced to the foundations of walls and remains of some built in furniture, like a real excavation site. some things are surprisingly real: a room with a computer and control stick with a heater or speaker (or both in combination among other possibilities) on the floor, and a bed-mat behind opposite in the same room. more of course. maybe want candles ?

in development a theory of what was seen, that if vision is like audition that I know more of, with ?10 times as many descending pathways as afferent ones, and as I had a teacher suggest, it could be thought then better of as a kind of controlled hallucination, the creation of new possible images to hallucinate with would allow new perceptions to be displayed
[in notes here, brakhage saying that an artist should have been sent to film the moon, someone practicing showing unforseen things, avoiding recreating known things. that the moon films look to be reseeing scifi movie pictures from home]

body redundancy lineage
I talked to a person in my dream who was physically of a type that I know though the particulars I think I invented. how do you describe a type? my impression is that there are many more divisions and orders of regularity than we use in common. freckles! (possible investigation into classical conceptions, complexio, etc. maybe in relation to classical color terms, red/gold etc) Prediction of nipple's appearance, ?a good example because it is kept covered. surprise? surprise at someone's teeth? not sure if teeth enter into my conception of the types, but bones do certainly, one's frame.
woke up with a word from the dream in mind VESPICA, with a visual impression as a product name in bold sans somewhat compressed horizontally, though after typing it, it seems to be lacking a letter. Ezra and I share his occasional impressions that the face a word is set in will make it appear to be spelled incorrectly
[in Star Trek TNG an episode often has parallel narratives, not in contact, but producing an impression of overall formalism and meaning. we speak this way too]
the person, of type HILARY, worked at the store that sold VESPICA, much like home depot, [ah, it seems spelled well now, in this relation to Hilary, if all on one line] much temporary/not-temporary plywood with hasps and padlocks (?as in back rooms of some supermarkets), circular shape to check out area (?after exploratorium), widdershins circulation, my confused wasting of time, waiting in line after line, to discover what I thought was one long line was several, etc etc. out of line and back in. wandering off saw worker Hilary pretending to hang herself with products from the shelves, a new very white nylon rope, still bundled, a metal hook with spring stays, maybe from a block and tackle? up on a stool. talked to her and understood she was just playing, but still why play at that, and she had maybe twisted her neck a bit. I felt her right shoulder which had one of the biggest knots I'd ever felt, I naturally took to kneading it, but just once as she winced a bit I momentarily reflected that I might be being a bit forward. I think I said "wow you're pretty messed up!" to somehow ease the tension and let it be ok, which worked somehow (must have been my tone, because I then momentarily reflected that it's actually a strange and not necessarily nice thing to say) she pointed to her left lower back (then I realized slowly while feeling it that her torso was the wrong way around, that she was facing me with her back). some how I took my leave of her to get back in line carrying my trivial item (yellow plastic like my cheerios day container) and passed an aisle ad for VESPICA on the way.

Respighi's "Pini presso una catacomba" accompaniment for replacing my desk in it's home position over the indigos (it's been on the road with me). first and most naturally with Seiji Ozawa's version conducting the BSO on Deutsche Grammophon (2530 890), then listened to the same on Angel 134443 (Muti conducting Philadelphia orchestra) and Everest 3436 (Horvat conducting Zagreb philharmonic orchestra).. both a bit dumb sounding after Ozawa.. I remember two other versions I didn't have to hand, but already with these three I had a lot of fun. it's been a long time since I got into this, but mostly the records are there on the shelf: the few hits I always picked up when I saw a version cheap: Grand Canyon Suite, Holst's Planets, etc... in retrospect I must have been interested in that low range of the orchestra, and the sort of haze of recording it. maybe that's where also variations in feel is easiest for me to detect? opening of Tannhauser at Bayreuth LP, the haze of shepard's flute and a muffled cough from the audience

blindfold coming of age present
one technique, employed on blocks, of organizing in my room
is to think how I would do it if I were blind, and with the blindfold test and check, test and check,
to think of overall forms for blind use and to build up areas that can be used blind. still starting out!
blinds over certain drawers, a slit black cloth hands can go in easily. like the door top curtains seen in Japanese public houses I imagine. reading Nō plays, often people are walking travelling on the road, and it is said travellers who spend a night under the same tree or who share water will be friends in the next life.
Who all we forget. to renew an old excerise I didn't do enough of back when I thought of it (~8 years ago! after hearing about Disko Bob's private shrine) visualize everyone I know at a spring garden party together, making a souvenir photograph towards the end. friends of the blind, that we don't see them when they're away.
the records on the shelf are attracting my attention, how to address them. thinking of black paper pleated to form a blind surface to represent them, just to remember the little step I have taken. (? pleating machine diversion)
hopeful dreaming of certain projects given over to the domain of blindfolded work. a product developed entirely sightlessly. assembly-language-crystal formation tool, perhaps. other ideas.
what comes entirely from my mind? distancing from building of tools for ourselves. I would believe if I was told "No, these are not so personal questions at all, we have a science and teaching of it, come"

Few nights ago ended by playing with Ezra a late Buchla 200 system, very advanced and full, but we had only a few patch cords. it had in it a -1606 MArF, where we started, just to see if it went at all. first stop kick drum sequence, to settle down and be influenced by Ezra's presence and the atlantean curves of Don's case design--
courtly high guitar pinch harmonic, the kick in what Ezra reported was 7, but I only knew was in 1-1-1, mysterious patterning of the kick timbre by ramp of length commensurable with one time interval but not another, heard in echos. at home also I use only very few cables, letting them be rare for times, to make everything coming from one area or interaction. What we balled up to sleep to that night used two oscillators, but only one MarF output, to those could have been perhaps multiplexed or 'multiplexed' some way which inheres. I have certainly heard similar dispositions of the orchestra coming from one oscillator, a kick, flagolet melodies, swaying background curtains. and even the tunes and pattern which I that night dictated I have heard coming on their own from energy pushed through fm loops into lower and lower frequencies, for example.
A face back of my interest is the disarmed or removed, eddying story that in a later age, person (me) whose practice moved following lateness.

A Second Favorite
Isn't it nice to have a second favorite thing that perhaps can cast a light on your favorite?
Yesterday, after preamble (preamble is also very nice to have), I did not go past the exploratorium's 1DOF-inverted-pendulum (IP). many things can happen there. and when it was time for breaks there was a observation area below for watching other arms at it. The second favorite had it- a 2-plane-symmetric bench bench on wheels actuated by a very reducing gear train leading from a little hand crank spindle set in the top of the bench breaking the usual bench symmetry but not the extra one, leading the way like a train's stack towards the balcony over which the balancing arms show.
(first guess, second guess; preamble, favorite, second favorite. at first guess the reduction ratio was something like 1000:1)
While swinging and holding inversion I tried loosening body things, breathing, feeling my knees, as I have heard christine say about singing. Also introduced eyes closed, and alternate visual fixations. start A little study of the free sliding movements of the hinge point. Identification of persons by their pattern of corrections. (knock-box or knock-lock, and a safe breaker in that world, an impersonator at low-consciousness, maybe closer to a forger)

most direct observation of the bench's progress was found in the angle of my knees as I sat astraddle as over a 7½" gauge steam train. body concerns! Just before we had been in consultation with people looking at us as music-people which surprised me, that there even was something like that, a music person. now Laura was off in the sound-exhibits, but I with the first and second places, on the stair down from the balcony to the bench thought ? my category body person
